Q. What inspired you to start writing?

A. I’ve always been writing, but for years I didn’t know what to write until I was in my local Christian bookstore and I found Denise Hunter’s Sweet Water Gap and then I was hooked on CF contemporary romance and I knew then that’s what I wanted to write.

Q. What was the most challenging part of writing your latest book?

A. Both my hero and heroine, Hayden and Rachel, were unlikeable. I had to make them more likeable why staying true to what the story needed.

Q. Do you draw inspiration from real-life events and people?

A. I drew on my Philippine heritage. My mum is from there and I wanted to bring that part of my world into this story. I was scared at first because I didn’t want people to think that Rachel was me. But it worked out really well and I had so much fun writing Rachel and her Mum.

Q. How do you balance writing with other aspects of your life?

A. I’m still learning, and I suspect that will be a lifelong process. I started back to teaching after a 14 year break in 2024 and although I only work 2 days a week as a casual (substitute teacher), I found writing and working two days a week was hard and I’m looking forward to getting it to work more efficiently this coming 2025.

Q. What advice do you give to aspiring authors?

A. Write and keep writing. Call yourself an author long before you get published (in whatever format your journey takes). Calling yourself an author will change how you see yourself and how others see you.

Q. What’s been the most rewarding part of the journey so far?

A. When someone writes a review where they were impacted by the story in some way. It’s so amazing how this writing gift can affect others for good.

 Q. Can you tell us about any upcoming projects or books you’re working on?

A. I’ve got 2 books coming out this year. It Shouldn’t Be You will be available in July. It’s a Romeo and Juliet meets Gilmore Girls love story (but no one dies, it’s romance after all).

 Q. Are you able to share the blurb for It Shouldn’t Be You?
